Kate spotted Jason across the room at The Loving Touch in Ferndale, Michigan on April 22, 2023 during an annual benefit concert, DetroitXDetroit, which supports music education.


Enamored with this tall, handsome man who was enjoying the music as much as she was, Kate kept her eyes on Jason until he noticed someone was watching him dance. He stood next to her for the following set.


Seeing her opening, Kate asked which band was on next. The set list was in her pocket. They chatted about their mutual love of local music, but then the concert ended. Kates friends were leaving.


Jason said: I go to these things a lot, maybe Ill see you at the next one?
Kate, feeling bold, replied: Maybe you should take my number and see me again on purpose?


On September 16th, 2024, Jason asked Kate to see her again on purpose for the rest of their lives.

While on vacation together with some friends, Jason took Kate on a hike to the overlook at Mystic Falls in Yellowstone National Park.

With excellent timing, the sun began to set over the ridgeline and Jason and Kate were alone together in front of a postcard-perfect view. Jason got on one knee, and proposed with a Baltic amber ring.
